Prostitution is not prohibited in Germany, it’s not illegal and, above all, it is not penalised. But it is almost impossible to get a working permission as a self-employed person in prostitution. While German Law considers prostitution an "indecent" business, it also becomes a profession that is not permissible. Migrants who enter Germany as tourists, au-pairs or those without any legal status and who work as prostitutes violate the alien law on working regulations. This makes their status illegal - if it is not already illegal upon their entry - which establishes a legal basis for deportation.

Working without an adequate work permit is illegal and can be penalised as a crime! (§§ 92 ff. "Ausländergesetz"/Alien Law).
