The number of trafficked women in Germany coming from Lithuania (per thousand capita) is the highest among the above mentioned countries, i.e. Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, or Belarus. Although, this could be predetermined by the fact that women brought to Lithuania from CIS are given false Lithuanian passports and transported to the West.

The German report indicates that traffickers mostly originate from the countries having highest numbers of trafficked women. The number of traffickers from Lithuania continue to grow: in 1999-2000 it increased to 20 more, 2000-2001 - to 4 more.
