Information to women, who would like to temporarily work abroad:

Before leaving find out whether:
|
|
|
- Persons who offer you a job function legally (you may find out this at the website www.ldb.lt/du.htm or call Missing Persons’ Families Support Center 8-800 26161).
- Your employer really exists and you may trust him/her/it.
- Attentively read the employment contract, which you should sign. If you fail to understand anything, do not sign it.
- You are really allowed to enter the country where the job is offered to you

If you decide to leave:
|
|
|
- Let your family know about the date of your departure, the place of your future job, and the information on people with whom
you plan to leave
- Leave your clear photo at home
- Agree with your family upon the "alarm phrase" you say in case if your telephone calls are being checked
|

|
If you have left:
|
|
|
- And somebody wants to take away your passport, or you suffer physical or moral violence, you are intimidated, blackmailed,
or your working conditions differ from those indicated in your employment contract, address Lithuanian consulate in that country
or police of that country or a specialized counseling center in your country of destination
|

Know that:

- Prostitution in many European countries is not prosecuted
- Keeping of brothels is prosecuted
- In most European counties a women can not be detained for prostitution. She might be detained and deported for an illegal
job.
- No one has any right to exploit you.
- Women abuse is a crime.
- Remember that your passport belongs only to you and no one has any right to take it away!
- If you are deprived of your passport, you lose your identity. Without your passport you will not be able to leave the country.

- Do not blame yourself for what has happened to you and do not think that you are bad
- You have the right to live safe and in quietness;
- There are people who will help you to settle your life and start it anew, just speak out, don’t be silent, don’t protect your
offenders.
