Introduction

Ukraine is predominantly a country of origin for women, men, and children trafficked to various parts of the world. In most cases the destination countries are Turkey, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Macedonia, Israel, Serbia, Greece, Germany, as well as other countries of the Central and Western Europe, the United States and the Middle East. With the EU enlargement, Ukraine has also become a significant transit country for trafficking victims from Central Asia, Russia and the Republic of Moldova destined for Western Europe. Trafficking within the country also continues to be a problem for Ukraine.

COATNET's goal in Ukraine is to develop a network of partners at national and international levels to work together in combating trafficking in women. COATNET in Ukraine can mediate contact to organisations that focus their efforts on assistance to trafficked persons and prevention of human trafficking.
